RAPS is a handgun shooting club located in Regina, SK that participates in IPSC action shooting and is affiliated with the following organizations:

  • Saskatchewan Practical Shooting Association (SPSA)
  • IPSC/Canada
  • International Practical Shooting Association (IPSC)

Our  club practices and hosts matches at the Regina Wildlife Federation recreational facilities.

The sport of action shooting is very demanding and requires that we pay particular attention to safety. No new shooter will be allowed to compete in a sanction match until he/she has completed a rigorous training program. Provincially we have a number of nationally recognized instructors.

Our training program consists, initially of a number of informal training sessions to train the new shooter to the point of being able to take the final program known as the "Black Badge". (Note: This does not replace the training required per Canadian Firearms Legislation.)

The time required to take the initial program varies, depending on the shooter's familiarity with firearms and also on the shooter's willingness to learn.

The final part of the training program consists of the "Black Badge" test. This is equivalent to a final exam. It consists of two parts:

  • a novice open book exam (based on the IPSC rule book)
  • a session on the range where the shooter will be asked to complete various courses of fire under set time limits.

After passing the exam and competing in two IPSC matches (where he will be observed by the match officials and if he performs safely) the shooter will then receive his "Black Badge" number, badge and a certificate from the Saskatchewan Practical Shooting Association.

The "Black Badge" is a nationally certified program and ensures that each IPSC shooter in Canada is trained to a specific minimum level.

Sanction matches are held in the province at least once a month. Matches are also held across Canada, USA and world wide if a shooter wishes to travel.
